I couldn't think of a better subject line so this one includes a lot of this weeks happenings!
Hello all! Some stories to start off. We volunteer at an animal shelter once a week and there's this dog that's been there for a LONG time. His name is Rolly. He's a lab pit mix, and he's the nicest dog...unless you get him around other dogs and squirrels. Then he goes attack mode Rolly...yeah he's had some run ins with some smaller dogs. Hence why nobody wants to adopt him. But we're pretty much best pals and we go help out with the kennels and clean and take the dogs around for walks. We were walking Rolly and just letting him go where his nose would take him and he took us up this big hill into the trees. We got to the top of the hill and there's just a bunch of deer carcasses lying around, poor things. May have been winter kill! So we ran around up there and had a good time. If Rolly isn't adopted by the time I get off my mission I'm coming back and adopting him.
We had a service project this week where we went and hauled stuff to the dump. There was a ton of cinder blocks that we had to split up because they would've been too heavy to lift into the truck. So our ward mission leader, who's an older gentleman walks up with a splitting maul. Now, most people tend to split wood with those right? The man walks up and starts splitting the blocks with the maul!
Unfortunately we weren't able to see Brian at church this week, not exactly sure where he's at but we'll track him down. He can't hide from us. We found some pretty solid potential investigators this week that we'll hopefully be meeting with them soon!
One last story that I thought was funny. There's a member here in Troy that told us a story about a lady. She said she had a cute little gun that saved her life during a bear encounter. It wasn't anything big, only a 30 cal. She was walking in the woods with her boyfriend when they came across a momma bear and her cubs. They startled her and the bear came tearing after them. While they were running she takes out that little 30 cal...and shoots her boyfriend in the knee. She got away from the bear but she had to get a new boyfriend. That story's probably only funny when you hear it from a guy with a northern drawl... but I'll work on it.
Love to all till next week!
Ps. We had zone conference this week and had a cool reunion with the OG Kamiah District! Those guys with me are elder Lofgren and Davis, my two comps in kamiah, along with my district leader on the far left, and the shorter sister is Sister Mills and her companion because she wanted to be in the pic too.
