What's This Glowing Screen Thing in My Hands? (1/15/18)

So you can probably tell from the subject line that something changed. Our mission got approved to use smartphones and finally after nobody really knowing what's going on as well as a crushed pallet of phones thrown in there for kicks we've finally got smartphones! And it's super weird haha still not used to it. Basically what the phones will be able to do for us is streamline all of our records and reports as well as a few cool visual aids. Gone are the days of paper and pencil and big honking binders full of records. From here on out everything will be digital. But here's the catch. In order for us to be able to use these reports we need to go through the old books and enter in on the phone all the records of people and past appointments and backgrounds and everything. Which is a PAIN! The apps we are using to put these people in are still basically in testing and there's a pretty gnarly learning curve. It's going to take a few hours every day for at least a month to enter in all the data. President told us whenever we've got some spare time to try and enter some information. Elder Fisher got his phone a few days ago so that's been a lot of what we've been doing.

But in other news we had a lesson with Jacob this week with his fellowship family. Wasn't too bad of a lesson but we also found out something that's not so cool. He is just outside the boundaries of our area. With the phones we were able to see where he lives in relation to the ward boundary and he is just above the line. So that's a bit of a bummer. We'll be having to hand him off to the Elders up there soon but he's planning on moving soon anyway so it's not too bad. His fellowship is still down here so We'll still be in contact with him.

Other than that no new news to report. Just plugging along. Love to all!
