Why is Guy Fierri in our Freezer? (6/18/18)

Elder king and I were scavenging for food in the abyss of the freezer the other day when we uncovered a rather intriguing piece of meat product way in the back that slightly resembled a popular culinary TV show host. Pic below. Also pic of our "Jyong do pong yo" (Chinese friends)

Hello all from Pullman! Pretty solid week we had. It's been a bit colder which is interesting. We were talking to a guy in the ward and he said that the Palouse (the massive expanse of farm land that goes from the bottom of Spokane County to around the top of Clarkston) always seems to do this where the month of June is a little bit cooler and wetter than you'd expect. He said that's why this is such great farm land for wheat and lentils and everything because they really like the cooler weather for a time. So we've had a few days of trudging around town in the rain the past two weeks but it's all good. Builds character. But come July the heat picks up quite a bit and we'll get a few 100 degree days here and there.

Elder king and I have been able to find two or three new investigators this week. Nobody super duper pressing on the baptism radar yet, but we'll keep working with them. We run into a lot of people who accept teaching invitations more out of curiosity and to see what our church is all about but normally don't like to commit to things. But teaching is teaching and you never know what might spark their interest. One of the guys we found is a practicing Muslim who is from the middle east and is over here for school! Kinda cool! That'll be interesting teaching someone like that. Most everybody I've taught has more or less a Christian background.

Jesse came to church this week with his ninos again so that was fun to see. His baptismal date is starting to creep up so our goal with him is to try to light the fire to see if we can really get him to progress more. He's more or less committed to baptism but he has some things that are holding him back a littlet but we'll get him. I think he knows that the gospel is something that will bless him and he definitely would like to see it happen for his kids so that's a real positive.  We'll hopefully be teaching his kids along with him this week.

Quick testimony builder for this week is on the importance of going that extra step further. Lots of the people we've found lately have been found because we've put just a little more effort behind what we do. Whether it's knocking on the doors of neighbors of someone we tried to see who wasn't home, or talking to the other members of a household where we are already working with someone. If we put just a little more effort into the things we do for the Lord, he is able to make big results happen.
