So plot twist, I learned this once I got down here but my new areas are actually in Pullman Washington instead of Moscow Idaho. But they're basically a stone's throw away from each other. Pullman is a college town where Washington State University is based out of. It's a pretty sizable campus with some even wilder parties lol. The wards we serve are not actually on campus; they're on the other side of town so we don't spend much time up there but our apartment, the church, and the institute building are all on campus. This is definitely an environment I'm not used to, coming from the small mountain communities I've served in so far, but I actually like it! Our wards cover a ton of residential neighborhoods and apartment complexes. The area is also a lot more culturally diverse than other places I've been. We've got a decent sized investigator pool and probably half of them are of Hispanic descent. I'm still trying to learn who everybody is but we've got one guy we meet with multiple times weekly who is coming along pretty well. His name is Jesse (not to be confused with kamiah Jesse). He has some trust issues so he's going to take some time but we've got him on date for August. And awesome miracle this week we saw was that Jesse completely out of the blue invited one of his friends over for our lesson with him. His name is Joshua. We were able to teach both of them and both Jesse and Joshua came to church this week! We were way stoked about that!
So far I enjoy it here, the wards here actually have primary and young men aged kids instead of just being all *cough- old retired people- cough* Hopefully we can keep the work going strong. School gets out in the next week or so and apperently Pullman kinda becomes a ghost town in the summer when school is out, but our areas aren't technically on campus so hopefully we've still got some people to work with.
Love to all until next week!
Oh yes, my new companion is Elder Brunt. He went to Viewmont High and knows my cousin Sarah Cutler. That's awesome! He has been out 21 months and will be among the big groups of missionaries returning home this summer. He'll be very valuable for the next little while helping me with my new assignment. I've got a lot to learn!
And, for all you old choir friends. Do you remember Emma Vance? She's serving up here in the YSA ward. It's a small world!
